Los Gitanos brings authentic Latin and world music to events across the Western Cape. This high energy mariachi band has performed alongside international acts including Shakatak and Kaoma, the legendary Paris-based Lambada ensemble. Los Gitanos adapts to any event scale. They perform as an acoustic duo or trio, or expand to a full Latin party band complete with traditional Mariachi styling. Their instrumental lineup includes guitar, bass, saxophone, percussion, bazouki, mandolin, charango, and viola. Founded by Cape Town guitarist Bienyameen Camroodien, the repertoire spans Mexican, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Greek, Turkish, Arabic, Russian, and Jewish traditions, alongside South American styles and Kaapse Goemma. This range makes them equally at home at intimate cultural events or lively celebrations.
