Kass Naidoo was 27 when she became South Africa's first female cricket commentator on television. Two decades and four continents later, she remains one of the country's most recognised voices in sport — and one of its most sought-after hosts. The foundations were laid in Durban: a degree from the Durban University of Technology, a vacation reporting job at The Mercury, and an early apprenticeship producing radio legend John Robbie at 702. Television came calling at the 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup, where SABC Sport put her on air and viewers kept her there — five seasons that made her a fixture on South African screens. The reach has grown steadily since: an international commentary debut at the 2006 Hong Kong Cricket Sixes, Pakistan Super League coverage in 2020, a Sky Sports hosting debut on The Hundred in 2021, and the England versus New Zealand opener at the 2023 Cricket World Cup. Recent seasons have been her busiest yet — the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in 2024, the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup in 2025, and two cricket World Cups in 2026 across hosting, presenting and commentary, alongside FIFA work in the Seychelles. Away from the boundary, Kass founded the gsport Trust to champion women in sport — work recognised in 2024 with the Minister's Recognition of Excellence Award at the South African Sport Awards.
