Haylea Heyns is a Cape Town-based soprano and actress who has had the privilege of performing at major international rugby test matches for both South African and British teams. A classically trained vocalist, Haylea holds a degree in Music and Drama Performance (Cum Laude), a background that provides the technical foundation for her high-pressure stadium performances. Beyond the stadium, her experience in musical theatre includes playing the leading role of Baroness Elsa Schraeder in the international tour of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Sound of Music, which traveled to major cities across Asia and South Africa. She is perhaps best known for her renditions of the national anthem, which have been described by critics as a “masterclass in grandeur and majesty.” Haylea was deeply honored to have her performance recognized by the South African Music Awards (SAMA) as one of the best renditions of the national anthem to date.
