About
AfroTropica Steelband has been part of the South African music scene for over 20 years, and is currently the only professional steelband in the country. Although we are based in Cape Town we have performed at events in Mozambique, Sun City, Sandton, Durban, as well as across the length and breadth of the Western Cape at wine estates, hotels and restaurants too numerous to mention. The band is always colourfully costumed in African/Caribbean styled outfits and can perform from a quartet to a full 12-piece steel orchestra, depending on the occasion. however most of our bookings are for a 6 - 10 piece band. AfroTropica has an extensive & varied repertoire of music form modern popular tunes to jazz and Latin standards, but can accommodate requests such as Mendelssohn's Wedding March and your favourite tunes if given enough notice to arrange & rehearse them. We live for making music and it shows in our performance!
